You ever bought anything only to find out that it was not what you really wanted. We seem to live life only to find out that most do things in this Earth do not ultimately satisfy our souls. Let me provide you with an example:
– You get to high school only to find out that you can’t wait to get to college and avoid all the drama it brings
– Only to find out how expensive college is and being broke while in is not very fun
– You graduate college only to find out that the real world comes with bills upon bills and working for that boss can be difficult on a daily basis
– You get married only to find out that it involves work
– You have kids only to find out that these little rascals are bad and just too expensive
And pretty much this discontentment in life will continue we die, and we just end up living a life of futility. Yes, life brings its pleasures. But how long do they really last as we get older in age?
The Offer That Is On The Table
There are not many things in life that are free. But what if there was an offer on the table that is totally free and the best offer any human can accept?
When God created the Earth and mankind to inhabit it, he designed life to have many of his gifts and pleasures. But he never intended mankind to be apart from him. Sin separated us from him because he his perfect and holy. He created life so that all of its pleasures would point to him and his praise and glory. God is the source of happiness and fulfillment. I once heard someone say, “As soon as you except Christ, God will take you from one level of joy to the next level of joy for eternity. God is an inexhaustible well. We should all take a drink.” Is it possible to live a good life apart from him? Absolutely, but you will eventually hit a roadblock at some point. Just as a car is made to go back to the gas station when it is low on fuel, the human soul was made to go to God when it is running low on fuel. We were made for God.
If you have not accepted God’s son, Jesus Christ, you have not accepted this free living water that God is wanting to offer you. It is the Holy Spirit, which will bring a rich relationship with the creator of the universe. Life will have a greater fulfillment with him involved in it. So if you are reading and have not accepted him, take a leap of faith and accept him. God is not mad at you, he is loving and will take you from one degree of joy to the next for eternity. This is when real life begins. Are you ready to accept his offer?
“Is anyone thirsty? Come and drink— even if you have no money! Come, take your choice of wine or milk— it’s all free! Why spend your money on food that does not give you strength? Why pay for food that does you no good? Listen to me, and you will eat what is good. You will enjoy the finest food. “Come to me with your ears wide open. Listen, and you will find life. I will make an everlasting covenant with you. I will give you all the unfailing love I promised to David.
